Design Domains
This section introduces specific design domains.
They are domains because they are technical enough that most people cannot become proficient at more than one or two of them and still have time to have a life.
In other words there are significant sets of
patterns to learn that take more time to acquire than most people are willing to spend for a career.
If it takes more than about 10 years to acquire the patterns necessary to perform an occupation then the discipline specializes.
